Parwati Surjaudaja, CEO of Bank OCBC Indonesia, has implemented gender-responsive initiatives that foster inclusivity within the organization, including flexible working hours, family-friendly facilities, and on-site support services. Under her leadership, OCBC launched Indonesia's first gender bond with the IFC and We-Fi, mobilizing $200 million to support women-owned businesses. Parwati also initiated the #TAYTB Women Warrior program to offer funding and business coaching to women entrepreneurs. Campaigns such as CurrenShe and #BaiknyaBarengBareng further reflect her efforts to promote gender inclusivity in the banking industry.
PT Pertamina (Persero), Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company, is advancing gender equality through initiatives like PERTIWI, an employee-led community promoting inclusivity in development, wellbeing, and sustainability. Women currently represent 18% of Pertamina’s workforce and 16% of leadership roles, with targeted programs like Women LEAP and coaching initiatives boosting female representation, including in technical fields. Pertamina also fosters a supportive workplace with its PsyCARE mental health program, flexible working options, and daycare facilities. Partnering with organizations like USAID and UN Women, Pertamina aims to reach 25% female leadership by 2030, setting benchmarks for gender equality in Indonesia’s energy sector.
Evermos promotes gender-responsive entrepreneurship in Indonesia through its digital platform that connects local SMEs with micro-entrepreneurs, with 86% of its resellers being women. By providing a user-friendly app, Evermos enables women, especially in smaller cities, to manage businesses flexibly without significant capital. The platform offers training resources and a community network, helping women earn an average income above the national average and gain financial independence. Collaborating with financial institutions, Evermos supports women-led SMEs with access to funding, creating a gender-responsive marketplace that fosters inclusivity and drives economic growth in Indonesia.
Schneider Electric Indonesia launched the Women Electrician Bootcamp to empower women in the traditionally male-dominated electrical industry, where female electricians represent less than 3% globally. The bootcamp provides aspiring electricians with a supportive environment through a week-long series of training sessions led by industry experts, covering essential skills, safety protocols, and advanced technologies. Participants engage in real-world applications through site visits and mentorship, fostering confidence and competence. Attracting a diverse group of 15 participants, including students and professionals, the bootcamp enhances technical skills while building a strong community. Graduates are now entering the electrical industry with renewed confidence, contributing to a more inclusive future and showcasing Schneider Electric’s commitment to diversity and empowerment in technical fields.
Amartha has published its Sustainability Report for eight years, showcasing its commitment to transparency and efforts to empower women while addressing gender inequality. The report details initiatives across economic, environmental, social, and governance pillars, highlighting a 61% income increase for partners and scholarships for 180 female students in 2022-2023. By aligning with the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP), Amartha emphasizes gender equality and inclusive practices. With collaborations with external assurance partners and an ESG dashboard, Amartha seeks to enhance transparency and accountability, reinforcing its impact and encouraging other fintech companies in Indonesia to adopt sustainable practices and promote gender inclusivity.
Karya Kreasi Teknologi Indonesia (Krealogi) empowers vulnerable women in disadvantaged regions by addressing their lack of economic independence and societal participation. Through targeted training programs, Krealogi has enhanced the business capacity of 665 women entrepreneurs across seven regions, including Cirebon and East Flores. The initiative improves local product competitiveness by refining product designs, adding value through innovative processing, and expanding market access. Participants receive soft skills training and expert mentoring for hard skills development, resulting in a 75% increase in business management knowledge and the successful launch of 15 new products. This has led to significant sales growth and increased incomes for participants. Krealogi's collaborative approach with local agencies and youth organizations highlights its commitment to empowering women and promoting sustainable economic growth, emphasizing the importance of supporting women entrepreneurs in achieving financial independence.
Amartha addresses the financial exclusion of over 36 million female micro and small business owners in rural Indonesia by introducing the Afin App, which provides affordable and flexible loans tailored to the needs of women MSMEs. With nearly 10,000 field agents deployed across 73,000 villages, Amartha builds trust within communities and promotes financial literacy. The organization has developed the Amartha Score (AScore), an AI-powered credit scoring engine that evaluates borrowers' creditworthiness based on their socio-economic context. As of 2023, Amartha has disbursed USD 810 million to 2.2 million MSME clients, leading to an average income increase of 61% among borrowers. Amartha aims to empower 5 million women with USD 2.3 billion in working capital by 2026, demonstrating its commitment to promoting gender equality and financial inclusion in Indonesia’s grassroots economy. Amartha was also the national winner in the Gender-Inclusive Workplace category at the 2022 WEPs Awards and first runner-up in the Regional WEPs Asia-Pacific Awards in the same category.

Wahyu Primasari, Project Leader at Perumahan Nasional, advocates for gender inclusivity in Indonesia’s construction and property development sector. Leading a 200-hectare development in Karawang, she has introduced initiatives to strengthen women’s roles in housing decisions, reflecting their influence in family financial management. Wahyu has encouraged women’s involvement by redesigning properties to be more family-friendly, increasing female representation in sales roles, and collaborating with women-led contractors and suppliers. She has also facilitated workshops on the property market and financing options, supporting women’s participation in housing-related decisions.
PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, known as Telkom Indonesia, is the largest telecommunications company in the country, demonstrating a strong commitment to gender equality and diversity. A key initiative is the Respectful Workplace Policy, introduced in 2023, which aims to prevent discrimination, violence, and harassment in the workplace. This policy includes accessible complaint services and an annual survey, extending its impact to Telkom's subsidiaries. Telkom collaborates with organizations such as the Association of Indonesian Forensic Psychologists for training on handling harassment reports, and the Indonesia Business Coalition for Women’s Empowerment to assess gender equality and establish maternity rights standards. As a result, Telkom has made significant strides in increasing female representation, with women now occupying 11.49% of management positions.
PT Cisarua Mountain Dairy’s Miss Cimory program, launched in 2013, empowers low- to middle-income women by equipping them with skills and resources to succeed as micro-entrepreneurs promoting healthy, protein-rich products. Through comprehensive training, agents enhance their entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and marketing strategies, fostering economic well-being in their communities. The Miss Cimory Center serves as a supportive hub for collaboration and continuous development. Many agents have significantly increased their incomes, becoming role models and receiving recognition through the Miss Cimory Awards. With plans to expand its network and digital sales channels, the program aims to reach 6,000 agents by the end of 2024, further advancing women’s empowerment and nutrition in Indonesia.
The partnership between Srikandi AirNav Indonesia and Women@Airservices Australia focuses on the Women in Aviation program, which aims to enhance the knowledge, training, and professional development of women in air navigation services. Supported by the Indonesia Australia Partnership Program for the Economy and the Australian Embassy, the initiative addresses the gender gap in aviation, where women represent only 31% of AirNav Indonesia's workforce and 11.2% of leadership roles as of early 2024. By offering mentoring, leadership training, and implementing a Respectful Workplace Policy, the program fosters a more inclusive environment. Success is measured by increased female leadership representation, active participation, and public recognition, including AirNav Indonesia receiving the Best CEO Role Model of Women Leadership award. The long-term vision includes establishing a Women in Aviation Indonesia Chapter and committing to gender equality by 2030.
Pertamina has initiated efforts to enhance gender inclusion within its predominantly male workforce, where women represent only 18% of employees and 16% of leadership roles. The PERTIWI program addresses barriers to recruitment and retention, focusing on increasing female representation through initiatives like the Women Leadership Accelerator Program (Women LEAP) and mentoring for female students. These efforts aim to empower women and foster a supportive workplace that encourages professional growth. Additionally, PERTIWI collaborates with various organizations to strengthen gender policies, integrating gender equality into Pertamina's corporate culture and operations.
Queenrides, a social enterprise founded in 2016, is an educational platform focused on promoting safe driving for women through its "Safety, Style, and Beauty" approach. Established by Fachima, an activist in women’s empowerment, Queenrides collaborates with corporations and NGOs and has provided safety education to 20,000 women drivers. In partnership with Toyota Berbagi, Queenrides selected and trained 12 women as eco-safety driving instructors, equipping them with skills in fuel-efficient and environmentally conscious driving. These trainers launched a pilot project, educating 150 women across Jabodetabek and creating a comfortable, harassment-free learning environment. In 2024, the trainers aim to reach 1,000 individuals in schools, universities, and workplaces.
2nd Runners Up
A. Teddy Setiabudi, President Director of Perumda Air Minum Tirta Raharja, has advanced gender equality within the company and the water industry. He introduced GEDSI-based recruitment, opening roles to all qualified candidates and promoting a merit-based system that supports women’s advancement, including in technical roles. Collaborating with NGOs, he has implemented inclusive programs like the clean water cadre initiative, involving women and people with disabilities in water management. As Deputy Chair of the GEDSI Implementation Forum, he shares Tirta Raharja’s practices with other water companies, contributing to a sector-wide shift towards gender equality.
PT Transportasi Jakarta (Formerly: Transjakarta) promotes women’s empowerment through its #BersihBerdayaBestari framework, which focuses on creating an inclusive transportation environment for all users, particularly women. Despite socio-cultural challenges and budget constraints, Transjakarta has improved safety by introducing dedicated bus lanes, leading to a reduction in harassment incidents. The company collaborates with local governments and communities to address women’s transportation needs while offering training programs for employees to foster a supportive culture. Transjakarta’s commitment to inclusivity enhances accessibility for women and raises public awareness of gender equality in transportation, with a sustainability plan to ensure long-term effectiveness of these initiatives. In 2016-2017, Transjakarta also partnered with UN Women on the 3M campaign (Menegur, Memisahkan, Melaporkan) to prevent sexual harassment on public transit, further reinforcing passenger safety.
BRINita empowers women in Indonesia through urban farming, addressing food security and promoting economic growth. Launched by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) in 2023, the initiative provides training and resources to women in densely populated areas, enabling them to grow fresh produce and sell excess goods for income. With 615 women trained, BRINita has reduced stunting by 11.27% and generated significant outputs, including 3,000 kg of vegetables and various processed food products. The initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing health, economic growth, and climate action. Future plans focus on enhancing digital marketing skills and optimizing land use for greater productivity.
KBR Media, founded in 1999, upholds democratic values and inclusivity, advocating for marginalized voices and maintaining information as a public good. In July 2023, KBR confronted its first internal sexual harassment case, which prompted the company to address gaps in its handling policies. With expert guidance from LBH APIK and input from industry organizations, KBR drafted a formal SOP for sexual harassment prevention and response, incorporating a survivor-centered approach. Concurrently, KBR implemented an inclusive recruitment SOP in July 2024 and established a cross-departmental team to refine it. They now monitor workforce diversity by gender and age, and support leadership training for female managers, underscoring their commitment to a diverse, inclusive workplace that aligns with KBR’s democratic principles. Recognizing the media industry's vulnerability to violence and taking proactive steps to prevent and address such cases is a bold and commendable move by outlets like KBR. This is especially significant given past public concerns about the normalization of bias and harassment within the industry.
